It’s not about feeling better but getting better at feeling.
Alyssa Moon is a licensed professional counselor providing mental health services in Parker County, Texas, for anxiety and depression, trauma, teen and family relational dynamics, and adult life struggles.
Counseling doesn’t make all of life’s struggles magically go away.
However, I believe that counseling is meant to equip us to better face those issues that life inevitably brings. Though we may not be able to always change the external, we can work on healing ourselves so that the internal capacity to handle struggles effectively grows. Healing and growth only truly occur when we are in relationship with others. The therapeutic relationship can be a tool in which my clients feel heard and seen, better allowing them to get to a safe place to work on their past hurts, current struggles, and future worries.
Teens, college students, women, and men are welcome.
I love to work with college students as well as adult men and women in their 20s and 30s struggling with the issues life brings, like relationships, job struggles, a sense of identity, and more. I work with women of all ages who feel like they’re drowning in their duties as a mom, wife, caretaker, employee, and more, where they feel like they have no sense of self.
I’m passionate about working with teenagers and their families, specializing in oppositional defiant disorder and working with the teen to get to the root of their behavior, rather than just behavior modification. I also work with the family system as a whole, which includes parent coaching to assist the parent in setting healthy boundaries, as well as a healthy balance of relationship and rules.
Heal the root, not just the symptoms.
Therapy is about so much more than just talking to resolve issues. Feeling seen and heard is the beginning of the complete healing process. Humans are complex beings whose minds and bodies hold onto their past hurts and assumptions, often times without being aware of it.
I’m an advocate of bringing all the pieces of the puzzle together so that the full mind, body, and spirit work together rather than in opposition. It’s not enough to just “let something go.” Instead, we must truly face and heal from the hurt to move toward productive lives, not letting the past dictate our future thoughts and actions.
About Alyssa
I’m passionate about digging deep with my clients, being honest and direct with them but in a gentle way that welcomes the many experiences and perspectives they have.
I do offer counseling from a Christ-centered perspective. However, I work with clients who prefer to not have religion or faith be involved in their therapeutic process, and I respect that right of the client. My main goals in the therapeutic process are for the client to be seen and heard, effectively handle the reality of life’s circumstances, and take a holistic approach toward healing the mind, body, and spirit.

How much does a session cost?
A 45–50 minute session costs $150.
Do you take insurance?
I’m an out-of-network provider and don’t take insurance directly. However, I can provide a Super Bill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement if your insurance company provides those out-of-network benefits. The benefits to having an out-of-network provider include higher levels of confidentiality in the treatment process as well as a decreased need to provide an unnecessary diagnosis for the insurance company to approve of and view the client through. HSA payments are allowed to be your primary method of pay.
FAQs
How can I book or change a session?
You can book or change a session via text, phone call, or email. You can also click on the “Request Appointment” button to send me a message. Your online portal will provide you with appointment reminders once the session is booked.
What should I expect in the first session?
Coming to therapy for the first time or after a bad experience can be very stressful. My goal for our first session will be for my client to begin to orient themselves to what counseling is and to express their desires for the therapeutic process. It’s important for the client to feel safe with their therapist, and I fully recognize that that process takes time. Building the relationship of trust is imperative during the first few sessions in order for true progress to occur during the duration of counseling.
Do you do online or video sessions?
I do offer online sessions to my clients. In-person sessions allow for a more personal setting, which often creates a better space for processing. However, I recognize that in-person appointments are not always feasible. Online sessions are offered if the client lives too far away to drive to my office, is out of town, or is sick but still wants a session that week. Online sessions will be conducted through a HIPAA-compliant portal, assuring confidentiality.
